Google looking to out-perform themselves

While the average US household's internet speed is just 21,1 Mbps, and Google's own Google Fiber network is offering mindblowing speeds of 1Gbps (1024Mbps), they are already looking into improving their expanding service.

CFO of Google, Patrick Pichette, said that the company is working on providing a 10gigabit internet connection in the upcoming years, with speed being one of their main focuses.

Faster speeds increase the use of software and services, from which Google benefits and there isn't any reason why we can't progress quicker.

But the company is already working on speeds of 10 gigabits per second, Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette said during the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet conference.

Their current Google Fiber service with 1Gbps speeds is available only in Kansas City. When asked if they plan to move to other cities, Pichette hinted at more news coming soon. It seems like they are taking the industry seriously and don't plan to stop any time soon! [USA Today]
